Macadamia nuts actually hail from northeastern Australia. However, because seeds were brought to Hawaii in the 1890s and a large orchard was established, there is a widespread image that macadamia nuts are from Hawaii. However, Australia also took steps to expand macadamia nut orchards and has now become the largest macadamia nut producer in the world, overtaking Hawaii.
